    Africa To Alaska

I just wanted to make a short post for anyone stumbling upon my website. I was in Tanzania having health problems and returned to the U.S. for further testing. Upon more testing it was discovered that I have an undefined auto-immune disease- similar to Lupus. I have a severe sensitivity to the sun that causes me to be very ill. The Dr. pretty much said that I should return to Tanzania. Tanzania is on the equator and the UV rays are the strongest there. WHAT I can't go back ??? My house, dogs, EVERYTHING I possible own is in Tanzania. Not to mention My Life is IN TANZANIA. I had my fourth child in our bedroom of our home there! She is basically Tanzanian. What do you mean I can't go back ??????? Tough decisions were made, and to make a long story short, We are not in ALASKA !!!! I am doing fairly well, health wise, except I am missing part of my heart. No it is not due to a medical condition... it is because part of My heart is still in Tanzania. We are happy where we are now, and slowly moving forward, but that piece will forever be there. As you can expect, my life has been a little crazy, so I haven't kept up with my website like I have wanted to. I still plan to continue writing about Tanzania, since it is in my thoughts almost every single day. Plus, I still have Thousands of pictures that I need to get online somewhere! So here I am, writing to you from Alaska about Tanzania.

    Until Next Time....

    Greetings from Tanzania,

I hope you are all as happy and healthy as this little guy is. :-)

Next week we are traveling back to the U.S. for some time with our family, friends and supporters. I should/could possible have more time there to update the website a little more. I want to do more videos, and more links to the tabs at the top. If there is something specific that you would like to see posted, please feel free to comment below.

    Business in Tanzania

I have come across many expats who do business here in Tanzania. Business that deals with flower exportation, well drilling, or agricultural machine sales. For the most part, Tanzanian companies like to hire within Tanzania. It can sometimes be a challenge for an expat to start or work with a business in Tanzania. To start a business it takes a lot of patience and persistence.

When it comes to working with a businesses it may be helpful to remember these tips.

    * Never turn your passport over to a company that wants to hire you.
    * Get Everything in writing in regards to your income, benefits, etc.
    * Get all your questions clarified by the company before making the move to Tanzania.
    * Realize that the cost of living in Tanzania (especially Dar es Salaam) is not extremely cheap.
    * Have a clear idea on what your job description involves.
    * Be honest in your business dealings. Bribery is common in Tanzania, but that doesn't make it right.

If you have anything to add to the list or any other tips that you would love to share, please comment below or email me

      About Me and the Website

      About the Website Creator ~
Well this is me and my family. We are an American family that has moved to Tanzania to do mission work. When I am not busy cooking, cleaning, homeschooling the kids, or volunteering, I am found playing on my computer.

How this Website Got Started ~
When looking at Tanzania through the eyes of the internet, it is hard to get a clear and accurate view of what life is really like here. I began answering questions in regards to Tanzania on a blog site, trying to help others find out more about Tanzania. I finally figured that I had enough information written down to actually start a website. I do my best to give you a real picture and not just a pretty painted one. There are good and bad things about Tanzania. I feel that people should know them all, especially before moving here. We love Tanzania and love sharing it with others. It is my hope that this website can help someone in some small way.

Please remember that some of the information on this website is  just from one persons perspective and life experiences. Someone else living in Tanzania may have a completely different view.

      Ads ~
I may occasionally promote a product or service. Please know that I am not connected with any tourist company. I may promote something through a Google affiliate program, but I am not going to promote something that I don't agree with or that I don't like just for money, That is Not me.

I have added the Google ads trying to give you more resources about Tanzania and when you click on an add, then you help support this site, So Click Away! Some of the Google ads are just random and I don't choose what ad is being promoted.

      Kid Friendly ~
This website is kid friendly. Meaning that I will not post something with bad language, immodest dress, smoking or drinking. Even if a random Google add pops up with something that I don't agree with, I will try to catch it and block it from this side. If you notice something even questionable, please send me the adds website name and I will try to block it.
      Disclaimer ~
If a suggestion or recommendation is made on this website please note that it is only that. This website is for general information purposes only. I hold no responsibility for any decision that an individual does or does not make. Believe it or not, there are some people out there that would choose to do something simply because a website said so.   :-)

      Please Check Back ~
I am continually updating and adding more information to this website. Please keep checking back with me for latest information. I try to post lots of picture on Facebook, so feel free to find me there also. The True Tanzania on Facebook.
